Holy Shit We Have A Name
This past week has been chock full of nuts, both figuratively and literally. We are fairly/kinda/maybe sure about the gender of the baby, which will no longer be known as "Adrienne Stephanie" but as "Egg". Whoever suggested using Egg as a blog name gets a gold star, if they leave a comment saying, "Oh yeah, that brilliance came from me!" We also named the baby. Today. In about 30 seconds. It went something like this:
Sam: I was thinking of the name thing.
TB: Yeah?
Sam: The only one I have in my brain is naming him after my dad. (we had hypothetically talked about this in the past, before I got pregnant)
TB: Sounds good. What about a middle name? I was thinking your middle name (which I legally changed to my maiden name).
Sam: That's bizarre.
TB: (laughs)
Sam: I was thinking about the same thing this afternoon. I want to call him the nickname of my dad's first name because calling a baby his full name sounds weird to me.
TB: Ok.
Chicken: I like it.
Holy fuck we named the baby. If you want to know the first name, you can email me and I'll tell you. If you are confused, the name will be: My father's first name, his last name, then TB's last name. Chicken carries my father's middle name. If you're new to Sam's Stories I suppose I should say that my father passed away in January 2006. So! A name for the baby, who is likely a boy and now this is feeling REAL.
Erin asked about pictures of Egg. I have another blog with baby info on it that is meant for real-life friends and family but is certainly available for my bloggy peeps. Comments are moderated but welcome. I decided to put things like ultrasound scans on the other blog so people that aren't comfortable with being smacked in the face with babyness can avoid some of that here. Oh, you probably want the URL, huh? Go to Chicken's Sibling for all the baby goodness. I'll try to have today's ultrasound pics up tonight.

please tell me your dad's name was Thundercleese.
I lost my step father last year, and my father 14 years ago. I would love to name a kid after one of them except I don't really like the names. I'm pretty sure my father would have loved the name Thundercleese tho.
My stepdad would tell me to name it "Bud" which is what I called him.
Mostly it's just sad that neither one gets to meet this theoretical future child.
Great. Now I am depressed.

Sounds like you are totally acing this whole baby making thing! Please tell my your dad's name is Frank and your new last name is Beans. Also, your maiden name could start with an N.

ooh! this is cool. email me cuz i want to know Egg's real name. i wish i had thought of "egg". it's perfect.
so i guess this means "reginald von hoobeedoobie" is out? cuz i love that name. (from a kid's book my coworker talks about)
