Wow

I just returned from a dinner at someone's home. Want to know how it went? I'll give you the quote of the evening and you can guess how my stomach feels at this point, okay?

"There is flour in bread crumbs?" (No, I did not eat the bread crumbs, it is a long story and I don't feel like telling all of it.)

I am used to telling people that I can't eat wheat and then they reply, "But it is WHITE bread" and then I sigh and explain that white bread is made with bleached wheat flour. Or I ignore them and carry on because you can only educate people with actively functioning brains. It happens all the time. But how can you explain to someone that there is flour in bread crumbs without bashing your own head against a wall?

My name is Sam and I am intolerant to wheat. And people.

oh ha ha, the ignorance of some people is just so very funny, although of course your stomach wont agree with me there!

It really does boggle the mind that there are people like that out there!

Ugh. We had christmas dinner at my in laws one year and they said to T, who is a vegetarian, "we bought a chicken for you because you couldn't eat the turkey."

What the?? People are RETARDED.

Ugh! Wheat is a terrible terrible thing to be intolerant to. Wheat is in just about everything.

One good thing is that labeling has gotten so much better (my daughter has a peanut allergy and I'm constantly and continually "educating" people about the allergy. No - even if it's produced in the same factory a single speck of peanut dust can cause her to stop breathing. Oh, you know - it's really not funny that you try to sneak nuts to my daughter thinking we are faking the allergy.)

Sorry - didn't mean to make your post about me. :)

A woman I am related to often announces that she can only eat white bread because she's allergic to wheat. I used to try to show her the error of her ways, but now I just chuckle.
