Worst Example

How not to teach your child good study habits:

  • Worry about passing the CSET for my teaching credential
  • Pay $210 ($70 per subtest)
  • Procrastinate studying
  • Bitch, moan and whine about studying
  • Do very little studying
  • Seriously consider not showing up for the exam to prevent the emotional distress caused by five hours of failing miserably
  • Take it and hope for the best
  • Pass all three tests because I fucking ROCK and not because it is a model of appropriate behavior

I see nothing wrong with this process. This looks like a valid study process. I don't get it. Please, what part of that am I NOT supposed to teach my kid again? I mean other than you left out cramming all night in a drug infused haze.

Oh shit I forgot a part. See above. The only difference between me and a "real" college student is that my drugs are Rx and taken for valid reason. I think. But still, cramming and haze. Will add next time.

Congrats! And I dunno... I always thought screaming, "I fucking ROCK!" was a perfectly appropriate way to model appropriate behavior. I mean, You do . I suggest using it more.

Reading that back - I didn't mean it to sound sarcastic at all, but it looks like it could be read that way.

You do rock. Unlike the previously worded comment. Previously worded comment? You do not rock!

God. I need coffee. Great job on the teaching credentials! Dare I say it? You rock!

Sam,

I am sure that your examples of study and preparation were actually inspiring. You mentioned the whining and procrastinating, yet overlook the quiet evening before, early sleeptime so you you were well rested, well-balanced breakfast and drinking lots of fresh water for the days before the big exam.

Um, you did sleep well and sober the night before, and enjoy a good breakfast, right?

It must be something with teachers. lol I was the same way when I took my NTE's ages ago and am going through it now as I take a class. I put off my homework, don't study for test/quizzes... such a great model of study skills for my students and own kids. I tell them 'do I say not as I do'. I wonder how long I can get a way with that one?

Congrats!!
