Hey...

I randomly stumbled on your blog.

Sorry to hear about your dad.

It just sort of got my attention... that I stumbled into a major event in somebody's life like that.

I guess that is the internet doing the thing it SHOULD be doing... Connecting us all... in ways other things can't.

Best wishes.

Sam,

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss. You will have that wonderful picture to treasure always. The loss of a parent can be a really tough thing- I went through it myself a few years back. I know you don't know me (but have read parts of my blog), but please know that you have yet another virtual shoulder to cry on and a friendly ear to listen.

Treasure your fond memories forever...

oh honey. I lost my dad almost a year ago to the day. while each person's grief is different, i hope you can find some understanding and peace eventually. it is still hard for me too. it takes time and you have to let yourself cry. a lot! but i know you must be a tough girl! you can do it! just know that some people out here in cyberland can relate at least a little and we are thinking about you. it's hard, sweetie, I know! just cherish the memories you have and talk about him to whomever will listen. (you can email me if you want! i swear! i'll even reply if you want! and if you don't want a reply because you just want to vent to a stranger, that's ok too!) i hope you have a dream about him like i did, because it brought me so much closure. he will be looking after you and watching you, i am sure of it! you'll see. i haven't read your blog yet, and i don't know you, but i am familiar w/you and your comments. you're part of my extended virtual friend network, as sad and crazy as that sounds!

I'm a librarian and there is a book i can recommend to you that really helped me when my dad passed away. it's called: In Lieu of Flowers, by Nancy Cobb. It's probably at your public library. when you're ready, check it out.

ok, i have to go now because now I'm crying! seriously, the best thing when you are grieving is just being around people. not talking. just being together. think of me as being with you, sitting next to you. each day will get easier, Sam. i promise. {{{{{hugs}}}}}

Dear Sam, although we never met, your more personal postings are often very touching. I feel like I know you a bit at least.
This is just so sad, amazing how sudden you can lose someone so dear...
I'm typing here all teary-eyed (no kidding).
Life can be so unfair.
Love the pic, btw, simple but all-telling.
many hugs!

There is a country song by the Judd's called "Daddy's Hands". That picture is a beautiful example of a daughter tucked safe in her daddy's hands. Words can't describe the emotions, memories, and comfort that picture will bring you for years to come. My thoughts and prayers for you and your family. My imagery of God has always been of a massive hand. When things are well and we are feeling brave we sit on his fingertips and tackle the world. At times like this, we curl up safe in the palm of his hand.

I am sorry for your loss.

Having lost a parent in the recent past, I know that these words lose there meaning after a while. I think yours is a remarkable HNT.

Courtesy of Dylan Thomas...
"And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
