Our New Baby

Well, H3.2 and I added to our wonderful family today. We're the proud parents of a baby Albino Cornsnake, a baby boy born/hatched 6.17.05. We have no idea what to name it, so I'm relying on my blogger buddies to come up with something fitting. We purchased Baby Snake as a surprise for my kid, he's wanted a snake forever. When he comes home at the end of the month he's going to be so stoked!

Our local zoo has a corn snake named Mazola. Does that help?

I like Mazola. How about Crisco? Rhymes with cisco.

How, um, cute. :-) I'm not a reptile person. But I once had a fancy rat named Eloise that I thought was the best pet in the world. So, who am I to judge?? :-)

Kat- How do you know that? And yes, Mazola's not the perfect name but you got us thinking creatively!

Monkey- No soup for you!

Madman- I do not want to think about Bush every time I play with my snake. Maybe "bush" but not Bush.

DD- Is Crisco made with corn?

Robin- Thanks for being open-minded! We've had lots of rats and loved every one of them.

EWWWWWWW.... Snakes are creepy. Took me forever to feel safe around trouser snakes, can't push it with the real kind.

I think you should name it a human name. Like Mike or Brad. THAT way, if he ever gets out and you start yelling for him Mike, Mike, Mike.... people won't think you are crazy. Yelling Mazola out loud too often makes people wonder.

Then again, yelling for a snake to come back would be pretty crazy in the first place. Not like it's a poodle. Ok, I'll shut up. I'm no help.

I don't think it would really matter if it's a real name or not. The snake still isn't going to hear it. I like Mazola. Kinda exotic sounding but still fits.

Snakes that make appearances near the rosebush and in the dining room window around here have always been named the same thing - Dead Damn Snake.

I got nothing else. But I wish you the best in your snakey adventures.

Anna- H3.2 wasn't into the human name, but I liked the idea. And trouser snakes can be creepy. All that spitting and such.

DD- We can call him Darn. As in "Where did that Darn snake go?"

Mrzmyrmtthws- I'm liking Mazola and Wesson. And snakes can hear you. I did some research on it.

Marel- Kid will be waaaayyyy stoked. Although he probably doesn't even know what that word means. I'll update on the name, don't worry!

Redneck- Dead Damn Snake seems a bit...dark. I don't want to curse the damn thing. He's been doing a bunch of hiding lately, maybe he should be called "Ghost".
